From the days of Arthur, through a medieval prince of Wales to Lord Buckland, the site has been home for generations of families and hobbits (Buckland Hall was the inspiration for J R R Tokien in choosing the childhood home for Frodo Baggins, when the author was living in nearby Talybont-on-Usk). Now its doors welcome you to experience the comfort and therapeutic qualities of this idyllic country mansion.
The opulence of a country mansion
The extensive mansion facilities include a range of conference, activity and social rooms to suit all needs. These rooms are exceptionally large with windows looking out over the valley and are equally perfect for meetings, workshops and activity sessions. The Brecon hall with its two massive log fires is the hub of the building and can be used as a wonderful social space or for conference and training sessions for up to 150 people or for receptions and parties for up to 250 people.
To relax, there is the Monmouth library with its fabulous carved fireplace and fitted oak bookcases. Teas and coffees are permanently and freely available here and a TV/DVD can be set up, if desired. There is also a snooker room with a full-size Burrough & Watts table. A bar is available according to your request.
Buckland Hall can accommodate up to 68 people in 29 delightful bedrooms all with en-suite facilities. And, if you need more, clients often utilise the numerous local B&Bs and guest-houses to accommodate extra participants. For special celebrations, there is our luxurious Bridal Suite with its exotic four-poster bed and two-person whirlpool bath.
The wonder of the setting
Buckland Hall is set in the spectacular countryside of the Brecon Beacons National Park, surrounded by mountains with vistas along the Usk Valley.
At Buckland Hall with 60 acres of gardens, parkland and miles of country walks along the River Usk, you’ll find plenty of space in which to roam and unwind. Some of the specimen trees in the arboretum are over 400 years old. The ornamental lake with its graceful swans is a particular haven of tranquility.
